Hi folks, well, it seems that all the freaking batteries i had at home were dead, even the new rechargeable ones! Went to the corner store and bought regular ones and guess what? My Camera WORKS!!!!!!!!!

Here is some pics, the sides were already bent, the reversed kerfed linings glued in and so were the neck and tail block

Here's the completed rosette scraped flush





the white ash rim, i know, i'm not going to glue it like this!





Here are some of the components that will make the appointments of that guitar



the cutting of the soundhole with Rod's amazing jig!!!!

Cutting the contour of the top plate, i decided to cut what will be the center seam for the white ash back



et voila...







Tracing the braces on the undertop





And finally glued some dots...



Sorry for those with dial up but i've been missing that camera so much that i could not help myself!

I really dig that rosette. It is a pretty shape. Are the wooden pieces maple? That ash looks great!

Thanks Homey and Mike, the rosette is EIR and maple pieces with rope purfling towards the outer ring and BWB inner ring

Oh and BTW, that white ash taps really nice and really bends like butter!

Serge, I was just looking at another guitar made of curly ash earlier today. The neck was laminated from 3 peices of ash with thin rosewood strips between them. Something similar would really look good on Your current project.

What a great beginning! Ash isn't a wood that I would have thought to use. I can't wait for you to finish the guitar and tell me what you think of it. I'm all for using domestic woods. Though Sweetie has bought me a mahogany b&s set for Christmas that I'm excited about. Well, Sweetie doesn't know yet, but.... I'm only taking Hesh and Kim's advice.

Al, i'll look into that, not sure yet what the neck woods will be, i have a choice of Mahogany, maple and Jatoba, i have some ebony bindings and bridge but i don't have any ebony fretboard so i might go the EIR route like you suggest, would make perfect sense!

Redwood on white ash - Tres Cool! An ash neck would be nice!

That rosette has a certain, je na sais quoi! I actually like it a lot, I just wanted to say "je ne sais quoi"!

Thanks Billy, it's not redwood, it's red cedar unless both mean the same??? Love your French accent BTW! Tu es trop gentil mon ami! OTOH, that pic of me in a Serginator should have you banned tho! Just kiddin'! I love it!

Thanks Anthony and Bob, sure will have lots of cleaning to do on the top but i feel confident about the outcome at the end, this will be a gift to my Godfather Norm, he knows about it but not when he'll receive it!

Thanks Dave, it looks like i've done a lot but all this work was done over a couple of weeks by nights and week end!

Thanks Sam, ash has been the easiest thing to bend for me so far, really went easy and no cracks whatsoever and even the sides tap really nice!
